Thanks for visiting. I'm khulud, a feminist Palestinian writer living in Haifa. Here I share my experiences within broader socio-political contexts. I play around with poetry, and publish fragments of fiction-in-progress. My first novel, Haifa Fragments, is available from Spinifex Press (Australia) and New Internationalist (UK)

leave the back door open
So… what can I tell you…
I’ve been trying to get closer to you,
I’ve tried so many paths – unused and new.
But each time – you slam the door in my face!
So… what can say to you…
I am not a woman of games.
This labyrinth is not for me – anymore.
Not at my age.
So… what can I ask you…
Maybe you could just once –
Leave a door open…
I’ll settle even for that rusty old back door.
And we could just pretend – that you forgot to close it… once…
